Going Circles Around The Square

Today's the day that the walls come down around New Orleans Square.  So I made sure I was up early so I can be inside Disneyland, preferably near Adventureland or Frontierland so I can make my way over to New Orleans Square to get some shots before it gets crowded over there.

Disneyland Resort, Disneyland
They had just started to let people into Disneyland

Oh cool!
I don't know why these posters couldn't be treated like what Disney did for the Jingle Cruise poster that were handed to those Guests exiting the Christmas time version of Jungle Cruise. #LimitedTimeMagic
That way everyone gets a chance to get one.

At this time, they were forming a line already for those that intend to Anna and Elsa Meet and Greet from Frozen.
The queue starts to curve to the left of the Hub and stops near the green umbrellas
They were then walked through the Castle and to the Meet and Greet location before the Park officially opened

I already miss the days when one could look down this street into the courtyard.
Why doesn't this have any sort of trimmings on it like the buildings next to it.
Maybe because it doesn't have any kind of balcony

Disneyland Resort, Disneyland, New Orleans Square, Club 33
Speaking of balconies..
There is a gap between the two columns.
Where's the fall protection
Also, because of the new walkway, parts of the balcony had to be shaved off for installation.
Why couldn't they have extended the balcony trimming to the actual wall of the walkway?
Ugh

When I got there, the doors to the Court of Angels were open.
I inched my way closer to it, but didn't want to go inside.
There were still painters and suits walking around that area and I didn't want to get into any kind of trouble

I wonder how easy these flower lamps will break from people walking up and down the stairs.
Some may be carrying bags or walking side by side.

You are not a paying member
So I'd advise you to just leave

That will conclude today's pictorial

  1. Excellent pictorial today! Is it just me or that grey wall with the window that faces Café Orleans looks awkward and plain? Maybe they still need to finish and possibly add some window shutters?

    1. It does look a little plain. It would be nice if they do add shutters or something to dress it up. But with that border around the window, would it still be possible to install them?

    2. Oh that's right I didn't notice the border. Maybe a faux balcony (or a flower box) would be nice, it seems like there just might be enough room under the window.

    3. I would think they would want somerhing there, that way they can put the Cafe Orleans sign back up.
Unless they plan to put it up on the wall under the window or something

  2. You think the tarps up on Paradise Pier were cause we can see it and nothing has been going on....lol?

    1. Maybe. Our maybe they are finally starting to work on it again.

It was a bit of a sore eye having the back side exposed like that for quite some time with nothing going on.

  3. Ugh! The Imagineer (and I use that term loosely) in charge of the Club 33 remodel has ruined New Orleans Square! The window that replaces the interior fireplace is ugly, the new bridge is ugly, the widening of the old bridge and it's new windows are all ugly (doesn't that Imagineer have any concept of the idea of forced perspective?) And why wouldn't the new gates have been designed to fit perfectly into the openings that lead into the court of angels? I can see people standing on the stairs in that one shot with the gates closed. None of this makes any sense unless the intent was to deliberately ruin Walt's original New Orleans Square. :-( Your photography however, is wonderful as always....thank you for your weekly updates!

    1. I look at New Orleans Square and I think to myself if the new additions could have been added without all the alterations to the existing buildings themselves. I mean, did they need to widen the old bridge? Did they need to build that second bridge (which I don't care for)?

The whole project makes it seem like those in charge want Club 33 to be exposed to the public as much as possible. I have this theory in the back of my mind that Disney thought if more people saw the Club 33 members on the second story, would they then inquire about how to get up there, thus being told they have to be a member. And since people want what they can't have, they will then want to join and shell out the money needed.

I also wonder if part of the blame lies in all those who want to become members, but at the time couldn't because of the limited space. Since so many people wanted to be part of the Club, the only way to try and accommodate as many members as possible, drastic changes needed to be made.

I have only been in Club 33 once on a short walking tour back in 1995. One of the places this tour went to was Club 33. I can barely remember how it looked before as I never had any type of desire to visit the Club.
